Cheat When You Smile

b2ap3_thumbnail_j0400691First, I am not suggesting you take some immoral advantage of a situation by cheating in the traditional sense of that word.  After all, everything I write about has to do with guiding people to performance improvement solutions that make their lives better and more profitable in every way.  Cheating your way to performance improvement will, at best, deliver temporary results but permanent damage to your credibility.  You absolutely cannot benefit permanently when you act dishonestly or unfairly to gain an advantage over someone else.

However, I’m going to encourage you to act dishonestly or unfairly to gain an advantage over your negative attitude.  Science has proven that when you smile the action of the muscles involved force the brain to release endorphins.  Endorphins make you feel happy.  Multiple studies have confirmed that fact.

The bottom-line is this:  manage your attitude by managing your smile muscles.  Cheat yourself out of a bad mood by smiling.  The science would suggest it is impossible to remain in a negative attitude when you are smiling.  Negativity will never lead you to an improved state in your life.

Besides, smiling is critical to your successful interaction with other people.   Having the confidence and substance to deliver a ready smile to people is a compelling communication skill.  Think about it.  Ever wonder why people don’t smile?  Maybe it’s because you didn’t smile at them first.  If you want people to appreciate your worth then confirm their worth by giving them a big, wide, warm, toothy smile!  The warmth of your smile can show the humanity of your soul to other people.

So, when you’re miserable cheat your way out of that attitude.  Force yourself to smile and all will begin to get right in your world and, certainly, for those around you who have been impacted by your miserable nature.

Smile even if you have to cheat.  It’s good for you!
