Da’ Feat

I’m a Chicago Bears fan and for 25 years or more, as labeled through various SNL skits, they have been referred to as Da’ Bears.  Now, what does that have to do with the title of this post?  Nothing, really!  I just wanted to set the stage for some thoughts on how you think about defeat.

This year’s version of Da’ Bears have had to accept defeat on the football field 5 times so far this season.  The question is did they do so, willingly?  I, personally, don’t think so.  It’s one thing to try your hardest and go down to defeat and, absolutely, another thing to be a defeatist (Someone who just assumes they’re going to be defeated at whatever they try before they try!).  So, it’s my opinion the Bears weren’t defeatists.  They just got defeated 5 times.

How about you?  Do you get defeated from time to time even when you try your absolute hardest?  Or, are you defeated before you even try?

The point is there is no shame in getting defeated while doing your level best to succeed at something.  The key is facing each challenge with an attitude of “I will succeed.” vs. “I know I can’t succeed.”  You having an attitude of defeatism is not honoring yourself and your value!

Whatever it is you want you can have, if you want it bad enough.  Don’t be defeated in thinking that way but don’t be surprised if you experience some defeats along the way.  Just don’t give up!
