Dr. Seuss Knews

Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904.  From what I’ve read about him, it seems his mother reciting rhymes was the key ingredient to driving him to the many wonderful creations in the Dr. Seuss series of publications.  It seems his mother would chant rhymes to help he and his siblings go to sleep.

Haven’t we all read at least one Dr. Seuss book?  There’s forty or more illustrated children’s books!  The wonderful philosophies espoused in these books are too numerous to list here.  One will be enough for my purposes today.

The fact is Dr. Seuss has a way of putting things into sharp focus and, as far as I’m concerned, not just for children.  It doesn’t make any difference which of his books you read there will always be nuggets of golden, wise knowledge.  The things Dr. Seuss knew about life he was able to express to the rest of us in ways that gives us a sense that we knew more for having read his thoughts.

But, back to the philosophy of Dr. Seuss for my purposes today.  My bet is that you like most of us have second-guessed yourself.  You’ve doubted who you are because of something someone said about you, for example.  Or, maybe it was a lack of confidence that led to you not letting others know how you felt about something.  Whatever.

Here’s Dr. Seuss’s solution to that kind of second-guessing of ourselves. “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those that matter don’t mind.”  I told you Dr. Seuss “knews!”

I know!  It should be “knows” but work with me here.  It’s my feeble attempt at rhyming so I could get your attention!  But, in fact, it doesn’t matter, if you don’t mind.
