Future Shock

As Abraham Lincoln once said:  “The best thing about the future is it only comes one day at a time.”  The relevance of that quote given the title of this post is too often we put ourselves in a state of shock worrying about our future.

Ask yourself this question:  Why am I worried about something in the future?  Then, focus on the following thoughts to help you overcome what I call future shock.

Things always have a way of working out, if we work on them in the present.  Focus on what you want or can do now.  As a friend of mine says, “Think what you can finish rather than what you can start.”  When you put yourself in that mindset, it makes you remain more in the present and not immobilized worrying about something in the future.

The future only can come, if you do the things necessary to survive the present.  Tomorrow is never promised so why get too invested in worrying about it?  That may come as a shock to you but it will help you better deal with your future.
