Gandhi Gifts

b2ap3_thumbnail_j0437254There have been people of genius throughout the history of mankind.  The list would run into the tens of thousands, no doubt.  But, there was on one Mahatma Gandhi…India born but worldly in perspective.  It is some of the genius in his perspective that I share in this post.

A few Gandhi gifts of thought:

  • You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
  • Live as if you were to die tomorrow.Learn as if you were to live forever.
  • You must lose faith in humanity.Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
  • A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.
  • Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.
  • Nobody can hurt me without my permission.
  • An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.
  • I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.
  • In a gently way, you can shake the world.
  • The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
  • Action expresses priorities.
  • What do I think of Western civilization?I think it would be a very good idea.
  • There is sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.
  • My life is my message.
  • Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory.
  • Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.
  • To believe in something, and not to live, is dishonest.
  • To give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.
  • In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place.
  • Culture of the mind must be subservient to the heart.

The genius of Gandhi lives in his gifts of thought to the world.
