Grategy

b2ap3_thumbnail_MP900422250Very quickly let me say that’s not my word.  A friend of mine who does amazing work, Lisa Ryan coined that word.  Grategy comes about as a combination of two words that are a significant focus of Lisa’s work:  gratitude and strategy.  The essence of her mission is to help people understand the power of showing gratitude and how to develop strategies for expressing gratitude frequently and effectively.

Now, think about your own circumstances.  The reality is you impact people on a daily basis more than you probably realize. Unfortunately, the impact can be negative as well as positive.  A life of fulfillment and self-actualization is driven from the positive. And, what is true for you, personally, is also true for everyone around you.

By being a person who creates a daily strategy for showing your gratitude, you can’t possibly be impacting yourself or other people with negativity.  It is absolutely impossible…PERIOD.  So create ways to constantly show your gratitude, and Lisa offers tons of ideas, if you can’t come up with some yourself.

Here’s one example of what I mean as to one way to show gratitude.  I recently returned from the annual convention of the National Speakers Association which, by the way, was an awesome event.  Of the many friends and colleagues with whom I had a chance to share time and ideas, one wasLisa Ryan.

Now, get this!  A few days after I returned home I get a hand-written note…yes, that’s a hand-written note…from Lisa basically expressing her gratitude for having shared our time and ideas.  When was the last time you received a hand-written note that was sent through the U.S. Mail?  Better yet…when was the last time you sent someone a hand-written note expressing your appreciation?

Life and human communication has become entirely too electronic/digital.  You can’t digitize or plug-in truly gratifying human connection.  Be better; do better; feel better create “Grategy” in your life.
