Have Can’t…Want Can

Here you are battling yourself regarding something you want to achieve in your life.  Could be anything…a new job; success, in general; whatever.  Achieving good things in your life becomes a problem when you battle rather than build.

I guess that means you need to avoid the battles in your life.  Focus on building!  Easier said than done, right?  Of course it is!  Good things don’t come without a bad price.  Bad, in this instance, meaning a high price.  You can’t get if you aren’t willing to give, in other words.

So, what does all this have to do with the title for this post.  Well, now things get simpler and more clear.  Let’s take the “Have Can’t” part first.  I’m suggesting that when you feel like you have to do something it becomes much harder to do.  So much so, in some cases, you can’t do anything.  You’re frozen in frustration over the feeling of being forced to do something.  In other words, many times when you feel you have to you don’t want to!

Flip the discussion.  When you want to do something, it seems much easier.  Your level of motivation, energy, passion, whatever you want to call it, is on a level that you feel like nothing is going to stop you.  There’s no sense of a personal battle going on here!  Oh no!  You feel a building boom is going on and you’re right in the middle of it.

When it comes to getting somewhere else in your life, you will never get there if you feel you absolutely have to.  Everything you say you want has to come from a sense of a willingness to build toward it.  That sense only comes when you feel compelled by passion rather than driven by dictate.
