How to Avoid Mediocre Results in a Demanding World

I never heard of Georg Christoph Lichtenberg until I was doing some research for this blog post.  Have you ever heard of him?  He made an observation of great value to you.

First, let’s confirm who the guy is then what he said of value to you and me.

Georg Christoph Lichtenberg was a contemporary of George Washington’s.  They both lived in the last two thirds of the 19th century.  But there the similarities stop.

Lichtenberg was a German scientist with a side interest in satire.  If you go to Goodreads, you will find some of his satirical observations along with a link to others.

But…enough about who he was.  It’s what he said about mediocrity that is of particular value regarding the main topic of this post.

“The highest level that can be reached by a mediocre but experienced mind is a talent for uncovering the weaknesses of those greater than itself.”

If you want to overcome mediocrity and become all you can be, you can’t spend your time looking for the weaknesses in others or yourself, for that matter.

So…don’t!  Do what is suggested in the following video.

What actions are you going to take to avoid mediocre results?
