How to Create a Bonfire in Your Mind to Feed a Wildfire in Your Future

I remember it like it was yesterday!  The anticipation had built to a white heat by the time the event finally arrived.  The event?  The winter hayride for local “tween” age kids sponsored by a community service club.

But, it wasn’t just the anticipation of the hayride with friends.  It was even more the anticipation of the evening-ending gathering to participate in the building and enjoying of a bonfire.

What a perfect culmination to an awesome time with my friends!  It created the ultimate of camaraderie, physical warmth, deepening of relationships and a time to conjure dreams for our futures as we chatted on the ride and around that stupendous bonfire.

Experiencing a bonfire has a way of lifting your soul.  It stirs enthusiasm, energy and inward reflection.

It’s been a long time since that youthful hayride and bonfire experience but its effects still linger.  The enthusiasm and energy can light fire just by thinking about that event.

Frankly, I believe that’s what it takes to create a life of white-hot energy, enthusiasm and a wildfire of success…a constant feeling of a bonfire roaring in your mind.  A fire of such power you are consumed by it in the sense that it constantly drives your burning desire for success.

But, the real question isn’t the metaphorical benefits of a bonfire in your mind.  The real question is how you create and sustain such a feeling.

Well, let’s put it in the context of building a bonfire for real.  First, you have to put yourself in an environment where it is safe to build such a powerful fire.  You need a wide open, large space.

That’s exactly what you need to begin to build a bonfire in your mind…a wide open, large space.  That would be the space between your ears where you don’t limit your possibilities by negative thinking.  You think big and unlimited!  You do that by constantly broadening the base of your knowledge and skills.

After having found the wide open space, the building of a great bonfire requires the necessary fuel.  Pine logs were the best for building a bonfire when I was a kid because they were loaded with sap and would burn hot and fast.  They would almost explode into a roaring bonfire!

The bonfire in your mind is created from the exploding fuel of your passion.  The quality of your life is fed by the power of your passion.  Find what you love most in each of the critical areas of your life:  Personal relationships; career pursuits; spiritual; physical health; and in your avocations.  That love is the passion that will create a wildfire of warmth and achievement in your life.

It is also that passion that will sustain the bonfire in your mind over your entire life!

There it is…how to create a bonfire in your mind to feed a wildfire in your future.

  • Force your mind into thinking big and unlimited through ever growing knowledge and skills.
  • Pursue in all aspects of your life only those things for which you feel a passion.

Tell me about your experiences of enjoying a bonfire at some time in your life.  What were the lasting effects of those experiences?
