It’s About Relationships

Okay…so, you think you can go it alone.  Nobody is stronger than you and nobody can help you in your quest for self-actualization!  If it’s going to happen, it’s up to you is your mantra.  I believe if it’s going to happen it’s about us.

Sure.  In the final analysis, you are responsible for your own well-being and achievement in life.  However, help along the way accelerates the process. The more you learn the more you know.  The more you know the more you can do.  Knowledge comes from experiences.  Broad experience brings about broad knowledge.  The more help you receive the more broad the reservoir of knowledge from which to draw.

b2ap3_thumbnail_j0382684The problem comes for those who can’t get help because they don’t realize that receiving help is about relationships. You can’t live in a vacuum from a relationship point of view and expect to receive help from others.  On the other hand, building relationships with other people requires you to exercise interpersonal skills.

One of the most effective tools, of which I am aware, for building your interpersonal skills is a concept called, Emotional Intelligence.  Rather than going into detail in this post, here’s a link to a great book on the subject.
