Must Do

If you’re like most of us, you have a daily to-do list.  The items on the list are there because they are something you intend to do today.  A clever idea in theory but seldom actually accomplished.  Something or enough things get in the way to where you don’t accomplish the completion of your list.

Hey…the idea of a to-do list is a great way to keep you organized.  It gives you a focus for each day, as a minimum.  Also, by having a list you have a plan for the day that you can come back to whenever you are led off track by the unexpected.

The power of the to-do list to help you progress toward your goals is only as strong as the items on your list.  If you have a list of easy, unchallenging things on the list, they will keep you busy but not necessarily moving forward.  Yes, you have to get the easy things done, too, but their accomplishment should come after you get the most challenging stuff done.

Speaking of challenging stuff, your to-do list each day should always include an item that you fear.  If you are going to achieve at the pinnacle of your potential you have to overcome your fears.  You have to do the things you think you cannot do.

In short, each day’s to-do list must include a “must do” that you think you can’t do.  The biggest “must do” in your life is overcoming your fears.
