Purpose Defines Your Prosperity

b2ap3_thumbnail_MP900442283You know the drill.  You are trying to improve your results and nothing is working.  It feels like you’re stuck in quicksand and going down quickly.  You look for something to grab onto so you can pull yourself out of the quagmire.  Everything you reach for seems to break off in your hand and leaves you sinking deeper.  In desperation but with the renewed purpose of saving your very life, you redouble your efforts and slowly but surely you get the results you wanted.  You are free of the quagmire!

But, let’s back up a minute before we move forward here.  How did you get to the point of finally feeling the elation of being free…of actually achieving your desired results?  I think the answer to that question is buried in the meaning of the word, purpose.  There are many ways to look at it but one is to think of purpose in the context of the aim or intention of something.  Another way to look at it is in terms of the feeling of being determined to do or achieve something.  Friedrich Nietzsche said it well:  “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”  Why you figured out how to save yourself was because you knew if you didn’t your life was over.  Prospering from any of your life’s future opportunities would be gone…end of story!  Your purpose was crystal clear.

Put the whole matter in the context of another great thinker, Washington Irving.  “Great minds have purpose, others have wishes. Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortunes; but great minds rise above them.”  If you want to prosper to the point of your full potential in life, you can’t wish for it.  You must find your purpose for it…your why.  Don’t allow yourself the misfortune of being subdued by the quagmire that can be life’s problems.  Learn from the problems themselves as to how to solve them and move forward.

In every aspect of your life and the prosperity you experience, your purpose will clearly define your potential.
