Some Truths

As I write this article on this day of infamy, 9/11, I can’t help but be reminded of all those people who lost their lives on that fateful day. If the events of that day had not occurred, I wonder where they all would be now; what would they be doing; and how well would they be progressing toward whatever it was that each of them would have defined as success.

The truth is none of us will ever know the answers to those questions for those people who died that day. Another truth is all of us who remain alive can answer each one of those questions. The big question is would truthful answers feel good to each of us?

But, another truth is as long as we’re alive we have the power to change our feelings about our answers to the above questions. We can do that by changing the circumstances around any one of the questions that make us not feel good.

The ultimate truth relating to all this is: The true measure of a person is not what s/he is but how hard s/he is working toward becoming all that s/he can be.
