The Master

b2ap3_thumbnail_MP900184933Sounds so powerful, doesn’t it?  The master!  Clearly it’s a word that connotes power, control, self-discipline, expertise and a form of genius, among a myriad of other things.  But, have you ever thought of yourself as…the master…at or of anything?  My next question to you is why not, if you haven’t? The ability to be “the master” of something is totally in your control.

It’s all about the attitude toward your life that you take.  Believe what you want and you always get what you deserve…good and not so good.  You truly are what you think you are.  You truly will be what you think you can be.  The source to you becoming a master is your mind.  A mastermind, if you will.

One definition of the word, mastermind is:  “A person who is very intelligent.”  We all have the capacity to be very intelligent about something!  Yes, you too!  Therefore, you can be the master of your destiny in that regard.

I like what Hugh Macleod has to say on the subject of mastery.  Hugh Macleod, for those of you who don’t know, is a prolific cartoonist with a fertile, thoughtful mind.  He’s a master at pithy thoughts.  Anyway, he said:  “Part of being a master is learning how to sing in nobody else’s voice but your own.”

Yup.  You are your own master and it doesn’t make any difference if you’re singing out of tune from the perspective of others.  It’s that you’re singing in your own voice and you’re proud of it!
