To Be

No, I’m not going to wax philosophical around the famous Shakesperean line from Hamlet:  “To be or not to be.  That is the question.”  As an aside here’s a link to the full text and video of Hamlet Act3, Scene1 Soliloquy.  But, I wander!

Here’s where I’m really going while getting you thinking by referencing the lines from Hamlet.  We all have struggled from time to time with the idea of what it takes to be a success.  Some think success is a destination.  Some think it’s a journey.  Some don’t think about it at all.  For those latter people I feel sorry because of you don’t think about success you can’t be a success.  How could you?  You haven’t defined it for yourself so you have no target to shoot for.

Here’s one way to think about your success and how to achieve it.  To be a success, you have to have your definition of it deeply embedded in your heart.

On the other hand, just as you have to clearly define what success is for you, so do you have to put your heart into that definition.  If you don’t put your heart into your quest for success, your effort will be minimal.  Success can’t be achieved by doing the minimum.  By definition, minimum can’t lead to maximum.  And, a maximum effort is what is required regardless of how you define success.

So, to be a success you have to have success in your heart and your heart in success.
