To Put…

The title of this entry does not say, “Two Putt,” as in golf.  It says, “To Put,” as in doing something.  Those two words, “to put,” can have a dramatic impact on your life, depending on how they are being used.  Some examples might be of help in giving you a clue to the direction I’m taking here.

So, for example you could say something like, “I need ‘to put’ some order to my closet.”  Another example might be, “I need ‘to put’ some action behind my annual planning.”  One more example, just for clarity.  You might say, “I need ‘to put’ away my lawnmower and then I have ‘to put’ some gas in my snowblower.

Sorry!  The devil made me come up with that last example.  I live in beautiful southwest Florida and I’ve been watching the current weather reports from up north.  Snow and cold is never a pretty sight but in mid-October?  I probably need “to put” a cork in it and move on to my point!

As I said, the words, “to put,” connote action to me.  It seems to me a life of taking action is a life that has a great chance at being fulfilled to the utmost.  Life is synonymous with continual growth.  How can something continually grow if there isn’t some form of action taking place?  Life is not static…it’s dynamic!

So here is a thought “to put” some direction to this writing.  Confucius said:  “To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right.”

Building off of what Confucius said, here’s my take on it.  To put your life in order, you must first put your attitude right; to put your attitude right, you must put your thinking in order; to put your thinking in order you must create a positive frame of reference; to put a positive frame of reference around who you are and what you do, you must first listen to what your heart is telling you about what you really want out of your life.

Put some thought to it.  But, then you need “to put” some action to your thinking.
