Top 2 Secrets to More Positive Relationships

I would imagine you, like so many people, have heard the expression: “I bring a lot to the table.” My question is, do you bring a lot to the table and, if so, what?

If you are going to have the greatest opportunity for a fulfilling life, you must be prepared to give more than take.  That’s secret #1.

Living by the philosophy of “bringing a lot to the table” has the potential of demonstrating an unconditional, giving attitude. However, a key point needs to be made.

First, for giving to be truly fulfilling and positively impactful on others there must be a sense by everybody concerned there is no ulterior motive in the giving.

Giving with the motive of receiving something in return is not giving. It’s bartering!

The absolute difference between the two concepts—giving and bartering—creates a whole different mindset and relationship between the people involved.

Unconditional giving creates admiration and appreciation for the giver. Bartering creates wariness in the people on both sides of the proposition.

To reinforce my point, consider the concept of bartering.  It is defined as trading something for receiving something else in exchange.

That by definition is not unconditionally giving!

All of which brings me to the 2nd secret to more positive relationships.

While having a giving attitude is critical to a life well lived because it is full of positive relationships, what you give is just as important.

When you “bring a lot to the table,” it must be of a nature that people are encouraged to come to the table and want to feast!

It’s probably best summarized like this: You can’t bring a lot of your ego to the table. People won’t feast on a table filled with a cornucopia of your self-centered ego.

But, they will fill their bellies on a table filled with food for thought that is all about nourishment to them.

The lesson on the table, then, is you must be prepared to give your very best and not expect to get anything in return.

Living by that lesson throughout your life brings a cornucopia of fulfillment on which you can feast!

What do you unconditionally bring to the table of such quality that people want to receive it?
