Two “P’s” in a Wonderful Job

b2ap3_thumbnail_MP900443156Contrary to the world of the rich and famous, most of us have to work for a living.  That’s just the way it is and for too many it stinks!  By that I mean for too many, the job is a way to survive not a source of great happiness.  What a way to live a life!

Let’s fix that, if we can.  Consider your personal circumstances regarding your life’s work.  If you’re happy with your job circumstances, than move to another of my posts.  However, for those who are miserable give yourself a chance to ponder these ideas and then take appropriate action to fix it.

First, take an inventory of all the reasons your current job does not fulfill you.  Take some time on this effort and be brutally honest with yourself and be very detailed.

Next, review all the points you made in the previous step.  Pick out the ones that are most important to making you miserable.  List them in the left column of a piece of paper.

Now, in the right column of the same piece of paper, adjacent to each of the items in the left column list items that would correct your situation and provide you with more fulfilling employment.

Having done this preliminary work, you are now ready to begin the key step to fixing your problem.  Go to Amazon and order “What Color is Your Parachute 2013” by Richard N. Bolles.  This, by some claims, is the world’s most popular job-search book.  When the book is delivered, go to work and follow all the steps in detail.

When you get through the entire process, you will be able to achieve what Aristotle suggests:  “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”  Pleasure and perfection…two P’s in a wonderful job.
