Why You Should Actually not Worry About Friday the 13th

Horror of horrors!  As I publish this blog post it is Friday the 13th.  Some of you may be asking:  So what?

Here’s the what!  The phobia concerning Friday the 13th and the related potential bad luck is very real for some people.

The formal name for the phobia is friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia.  Just trying to say either word should strike a certain amount of fear in you!   :<)

The origin of the myth of bad luck occurring on Friday the 13th is not really clear.  Good old snopes.com does about as good a job of developing the issues surrounding the date as anybody.

The bottom-line of the article for me is there is so much myth tied to the date I really wonder if it should even be a concern.  However, this isn’t about me!  It’s about you and the possibility you allow your life to be negatively impacted by fear of bad luck.eyes-218185_1280

As the date approaches and then arrives, you slide deeper into a malaise of inactivity because the fear of bad luck takes over your thinking and the resulting behavior.

But—there is hope for those of you with paraskevidekatriaphobia.  Sorry I just had to use the word one more time!  :<)

Consider the thoughts expressed in this article.

Six of the 13 facts discussed about Friday the 13th give you reasons not to fear the date.  The other seven facts are explanatory information and not necessarily negative information that should create fear deep down in your soul.

There is an even more overriding reason why you should actually not worry about Friday the 13th.

Your mindstate drives everything about the results you get in your life.  Mindstate is nothing more than your mood and the effect it has on your thinking and the resulting actions you take.

Your fear of Friday the 13th is limiting you and the quality of your life.  Here’s how not to let that happen.

Take action!  Change your beliefs and the resulting mindstate.  Use the information in the two articles referenced in this post as a way to help you recognize your fear (superstition) is irrational.  Both articles provide information debunking the whole issue of bad luck occurring on Friday the 13th.

The Roman philosopher, Seneca, said it best.

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

Take this opportunity to prepare your mindstate to overcome the fear of Friday the 13th.  You will not only be lucky on Friday’s the 13th!  You will be luckier in your life, in general!cards-1030852_1920

What is the first action you are going to take bring more luck into your life?
