Your Best Victory

“The first and best victory is to conquer self.”  Words first spoken by Plato.  Powerful thought regardless of where you think you are concerning getting control of yourself.

How many times a week do you see a news release or hear about someone who had not achieved that “first and best victory?”  I don’t have to name any names of those people.  You know who I’m talking about.  Several times a month their various situations become known and we just shake our head.

However, shaking your head is not the solution to conquering yourself.  You’ve got to take disciplined action if you are going to experience your “first and best victory.”

Start with your own inventory of your psychological issues that may be holding you back.  Brainstorm a list of the issues that concern you.  After you’ve exhausted the possibilities look at the list.  Pick the top one.  The one that you despise the most.  The one that gives you that retching feeling in your gut.

When you have the issue isolated, do some research and find the best resource for giving you guidance in overcoming the issue.  Act on the information that resource provides and repeat the process until you have dealt with all of the issues.

Follow the exact same process for any physical issues you have that you are convinced you want to overcome.

Celebrate each victory!  It’s your “first and best” effort that will allow you to do so.
