Your Demons

b2ap3_thumbnail_MP900443818_20130818-145921_1I hate the thought of demons and the like.  Who needs them?  They’re vicious little beggars that can upset the flow of any life even if they only seemreal.  Of course, if they’re real, that’s even a worse situation for the person involved.

Interestingly, as I got to thinking about this whole subject, I did a little research on it.  As I have been referring to demons so far in this post, the definition that best fits is an evil spirit or devil.  On the other hand, there is another kind of demon that can consume you and that’s one defined as forceful and skillful…like a demon fitness enthusiast.

Okay…so, what’s the point?

If you’re consumed by the demon that is an evil spirit or devil, stop and take inventory, first.  Clearly define the nature of your demon…addiction, work, relationship or whatever.  Having defined the demon, analyze why it exists in you.  In other words, determine your characteristics that allowed the demon to take control.  However you do it, including professional counseling, identify a set of action steps that will allow you to overcome the suspect characteristics and get back in control of your life.

In contrast, if you’re consumed by the forceful and skillful kind of demon, good for you and keep up the good work…as long as the demon doesn’t throw you out of balance with the other important areas of your life.

In summary, your demons are yours to destroy or encourage.   Either way be a demon at your efforts.
